The Reina Sofia National Art Museum was built with the purpose of housing the most representative works of the 20th century and the contemporary period.

There are more than 21,000 works that can be classified in three different sections:

Collection 1: The irruption of the twentieth century (1900-1945)

Collection 2: Is the war over? Art of a divided world (1945-1968)

Collection 3: From the revolt to postmodernity (1962-1982)

You can also contemplate temporary exhibitions of contemporary artists (see "More information"). But without a doubt, among all the works, the one that visits the most is "El Guernica de Picasso". A painting that captures and transmits the barbarity and terror generated by the Civil War, and a prelude to what would happen in Second World War.

Definitely Reina Sofia Museum it is the most important point of your visit in Madrid.
