Throughout its wide history, Notre Dame Cathedral has been the scene of several historical and fictional scenes that turn it into a place full of anecdotes and curiosities.
From the historical point of view within this Cathedral there have been historical events such as the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte, who wanted to move away from the Bourbon traditions, he crowned himself and his wife Josephine de Beauharnais. Another notable event was the beatification of the patron saint of France, Juana de Arco and the coronation of Henry VI of England, in 1429.
On the other hand, the Towers of Notre Damm with their protective gargoyles served as stage and inspiration for Victor Hugo. It is said that the writer was inspired by one of the workers of the cathedral to create his most important character: Quasimodo.
The same gargoyles are protagonists of legends such as the moment after the death of Juana de Arco when they came to life and terrorized the city as revenge for such a tragic death.
